Main Street, once a busy district during the early 20th century, is now the site of Beaver River Central School, a blacktop business, Beaver Falls Health Clinic, the post office, two churches, a deli, a pizza restaurant and a town park, as well as the Omniafiltra plant, the Beaver Falls Library and the Beaver Falls Volunteer Fire Department. Three bridges cross the river, two vehicle bridges at the upper and lower ends of the hamlet, and a third railway trestle that crosses the river in the center. The hamlet is split into two sections divided by the Beaver River, which flows down from the village of Croghan. The hamlet had a population of around 500 in 2007. Falls is a hamlet in the town of Croghan, west of the village of Croghan, in Lewis County, New York, United States. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests that gifts in her memory may be made to Animal Protective Foundation, Schenectady NY. She leaves her sister-in-law, Linda (Moeller) Wilson and her nephew, Benjamin (Elizabeth) Wilson and their sons, Jack and Benjamin.Ī celebration of Lois's life will be announced at a later date. She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, John Wilson of Cincinnati. Lois also leaves her sister-in-law, Ellen Wilson of Niagara Falls, NY. She leaves seven great-grandchildren, Jake and Colin Bickoff, Charlotte and Autumn Wilson, Luca and Maria Leone, and Olivia Guba. She will be greatly missed by her eight grandchildren, Jessica (Michael) Bickoff, Evan Wilson, Matthew (Sarah) Wilson, Anna Hendrick (Mark Thyrring), Gordon Hendrick, Madeline (Joseph) Leone, Samuel (Tricia) Guba, Jack Guba (Rupali Srivastava). She provided constant love and support to her children and their spouses, Peter and Cindy (Bleier) Wilson of Worcester, MA, Jane (Wilson) and Joseph Hendrick of Schenectady, NY, and Susan (Wilson) and Christopher Guba of Ballston Lake, NY. Lois also served for several years as an officer of the Hudson Mohawk Swiss Society. In prior years, she was an active congregant at the Eastern Parkway United Methodist Church. Her interest in Queen Victoria led to extensive research about the British royal family and to the creation of a large collection of Victoriana. She was an accomplished knitter and created many treasured family heirlooms. An animal lover, Lois was responsible for the health and happiness of generations of stray cats. More than anything, Lois loved being in the midst of her family, who enjoyed countless holidays together around her dining table and yearly summer gatherings in Schroon Lake, NY.Īfter raising her family, Lois began a career at the Schenectady Public Library, which happily furthered her life-long passion for reading. She cherished her role as wife, mother and grandmother. Their married life was shared in Philadelphia, PA, Beaver Falls, NY, Croghan, NY, Clinton, NY, Utica, NY, Schenectady, NY and Worcester, MA. She leaves her loving husband of 71 years, William Wilson. The daughter of Ernest Reisig and Hilda (Amacher) Reisig, she was born and raised in Niagara Falls, NY, and was a proud graduate of Niagara Falls High School. Lois Ann (Reisig) Wilson passed away peacefully on Novemat the age of 93.
